Though many individuals throughout living history and reenacting have a powder horn, many seem to be lacking an important accessory for a militiaman, light infantry solider or other such equipped combatant (or hunter), being a ball bag. Here, you will find a carefully reproduced and hand sewn deer skin ball bag, similar to that found within the paintings and illustrations of Philip Loutherbourg.
Ball bags such as this were intended to be carried upon existing belting (this specific item being able to accept up to a one inch wide strap) or tied to the wearer in some manner where the bag would have been used to carry lead musket balls, as required and to be used with a powder horn. Not only for soldiers, but also for hunters, this item can carry such rounds and quite a large number (we have tested it with over fifteen sixty nine calibre lead balls). Made with supple, yet thick and durable deer hide, or cowhide in one of three colours, this ball bag is sewn with three cord waxed linen thread and is both resilient and light, despite being rather thick and durable. We strongly recommend that you either select deer, or natural cow hide, as opposed to a dyed leather.
This item is made to order and will be ready in less than four to five weeks (usually sooner) from the order date.
