Made using nothing but the finest pure heavy silk (100% silk) satin, with black silk (100% silk) ribbons, by hand, wig bags such as these would have been used as both a decorative item for a man's wig, as well as to protect the hair from the elements.
Wig bags are an excellent means through which you may decorate your hair to the highest fashion standards for various periods of the 18th century. This bag may be loosened and secured upon the queue using the included silk ties, as well as decorated with a permanent ribbon, also of pure silk. You may find examples of wig bags such as these in the work of Diderot, as well as in various period sketches and paintings.
While we are pleased to offer this item in black silk, arrangements can be made for other colours, upon request and with addition shipping time and cost.
This item is made to order and will be ready in less than four to five weeks (usually sooner) from the order date.
All items are sold as is and are produced on a per order basis; each work is a custom piece and reproduced (where applicable) by hand and using period materials as close as possible to the original materials used in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. All items may be subject to a delay and currently each item will require one to two weeks to produce and ship from our workshop, unless otherwise noted.
