Entitled "A Plan of Discipline, Composed for the Use of the Militia of the County of Norfolk", this manual of arms from the period of 1759 is a rather historically significant text, the contexts of which have been incorporated into the drill systems of numerous military units throughout the 18th century, inclusive of those that participated within the 7 Years War (French and Indian War in North America), as well as the American Revolution (or American War of Independence, as it is also known).
Containing 49 plates, this is an extremely detailed and visual text, a rare example for works in the 18th century, but absolutely crucial in the reconstruction of the military movements noted therein. It should be noted that this text goes beyond mere drill and also details practices, as well as details functional topics such as a detailed and labelled image of a Brown Bess musket / firelock and its various elements This is an extensive text, nearly 200 pages in length and written in significant detail. The visual details are extraordinarily well done and quite a prize for any collector, or historian, as well as reenactor attempting to reproduce the lessons found within the text. This text would go rather nicely with our other drill manuals, as can be found throughout our store. Please keep an eye our for new additions, as they are added to the shop.
