We are pleased to offer you this hand made reproduction 18th century moretta mask in black, green and blue cotton velvet, one of the materials used in the period for the production of this exquisite accessory. Owing to its rarity in the period and expense, black cotton velvet would have been seen as quite an indulgence, while blue and green have recently been uncovered and commonly available across the North and South American colonies. These masks are produced with buckram and millinery wire for support and with a leather backing, each item produced to order and available for delivery in one to two weeks.

The majority of these masks were intended to be held in the hand and raised to the face, as required. Further, should you wish to place a custom order, we can also produce a mask for you of this style in leather, both in matt black and with a black gloss finish, matching the other style which is often found (gloss finished moretta masks, also in black). This mask would be appropriate for masquerades and parties/gatherings from the late 17th century to the early 19th century from Quebec City to Jamaica and as far off as London.

This item is made to order and will be ready in less than one to two weeks (usually sooner) from the order date.

All items are sold as is and are produced on a per order basis; each work is a custom piece and reproduced (where applicable) by hand and using period materials as close as possible to the original materials used in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. All items may be subject to a delay and currently each item will require one to two weeks to produce and ship from our workshop, unless otherwise noted.

All bespoke modern and historical clothing and items are dependent upon the measurements provided by you, the buyer and we cannot take responsibility for mishitting items as a result of improperly provided measurements and associated requirements.
