Based upon an original 18th century shot belt in our private collection, often referred to in the 19th century as a "shot snake", we are pleased to offer you this meticulously reproduced copy, available in your choice of colour and in both a single, or double head version, along with a brass, or forged iron buckle.

As shot snake was made use of for the purpose of carrying lead shot, as to be used for hunting both fowl and larger game animals. Primarily a middle to upper class piece of hunting accoutrements, this commonly available piece of equipment can be found in a series of highly detailed period images, spanning the length of the 18th and early 19th century (the Baroque, to the Georgian / Rococo and Regency eras). Our reproduction uses the exact number of stitches and methods of production as found within our original, ensuring that this is in fact an absolute reproduction of the original item.

PLEASE NOTE, YOU THE BUYER, ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING AND SENDING YOUR OWN CHARGER/SPOUT (THE METAL POURING AND MEASURING MECHANISM) TO US, AS TO BE SENT TO OUR ADDRESS, WHICH WE WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH. THIS PURCHASE AND ITEM, DOES NOT INCLUDE THE BRASS CHARGER AND IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO OBTAIN AND DELIVERY THE CHARGER, AT YOUR EXPENSE. WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU MAKE USE OF TRACKED SHIPPING TO ENSURE THAT YOUR ITEM IS NOT LOST. PLEASE ALSO NOTE WHETHER YOU PREFER AN IRON, OR BRASS BUCKLE, THOUGH WE RECOMMEND BRASS AND SEND A MESSAGE NOTING WHETHER YOU WILL BE SENDING ONE OR TWO CHARGERS, AS TO MAKE A SINGLE OR DOUBLE SHOT BELT. Etsy, Ebay and private collectors are excellent sources for original chargers, also found still attached to damaged shot and powder flasks, as well as broken down shot belts/snakes. Alternatively, newer versions of this classic charger can be found at Dixie Gun Works, as well as Track of the Wolf; for further details, please contact us prior to shipping.

This shot belt is capable of holding both a significant amount of powder and shot of your choice, being well sealed in the period manner, though we recommend that this only be used for shot, as this was their primary purpose. Prior to using for black powder, please test to ensure that your grain of choice does not leak, as we have noted, this is designed for shot and not powder.
