This 18th century text entitled "Royal Folly: or the Danger of being tempted by Harlots", presents us with a written account of a sermon preached at Oxford before an inquiring crowd of listeners, where the preacher discussed matters of immorality and socially objectionable actions in the context of his beliefs and the 18th century. This text and associated sermon lectures us on being away from our families while engaging in "immoral acts" and that vices of the flesh and adultery will lead a person to moral and social ruin. The work goes on to discuss the consequences of failing to heed this advice and to fall prey to these vices for those in power, that such failures can result in the loss of power and social humiliation.
