The Canada Cap, one of the most famous garments to ever come out of Canada and one that still can be found today, in many parts of Ontario and Quebec, can find its roots in the 18th century. Originally used as a warm piece of clothing by the French Canadian inhabitants of Quebec, the item was eventually adopted by all people of the region, both men and women and adapted for military use by both the British (and their Hessian allies) and the forces of the Continental Congress.

Designed with the correct full fur lining, this pattern provides both detailed instructions, pattern pieces necessary to produce your cap in the sizes of small, medium, large and extra large, as well as research that will assist you in documenting your impression (inclusive of detailed photographs, to assist you in this process). While the hat might appear to be a challenging task, the instructions will make this an achievable project for you, with detailed materials requirements and recommendation on the best materials to use. An interesting piece of included research, is that not all Canada caps were red, in fact we can find documentation for green caps, with feathers adorning them.

This is a great piece of historic clothing, not only for living historians, but for people in the present!
